Tánaiste to launch new Musicians’ Union of Ireland website

Tánaiste, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Labour Party Leader, Eamon Gilmore, is to launch the new Musicians’ Union of Ireland (MUI) website in Connolly Hall, Liberty Hall at 6.30 p.m. on Tuesday evening (30th Oct).

The members of the Musicians’ Union of Ireland play a very important role, not just in the cultural life of the state, but also in promoting, protecting and advancing the rights of musicians and their families.

“The MUI Executive was delighted when Mr Gilmore, a former trade union official with the ITGWU, accepted its invitation to launch the website,” said SIPTU Organiser, Des Courtney.

The result of a productive collaboration between the MUI Executive Committee and SIPTU’s Communications Department, the website is designed specifically to allow members to showcase their musical talents, creativity and skills and to assist members in publicising their upcoming events, concerts and performances to other musicians and to the wider world.

Along with improving communications within the union the website will also allow MUI members increased access to available work through the Members’ Forum which will allow musicians to post their profiles online.
